e-Learning Pilot
Starting in 2012, we will begin an e-Learning pilot program in at least 2 of our 5 schools.
We will be holding a fundraiser in NYC this October to raise resources for the pilot.
Upgrading the schools involves the following:
Solar Electric
The school will be equipped with solar panels to power both e-Learning as well as social enterprises. Our power consumption requires 2 large solar panels, 2 deep cycle batteries, an inverter, as well as wiring and installation.

Projector-Based e-Learning
To improve the quality of the education provided by our uncertified teachers, we will provide a projector and a netbook fully loaded with iSchool's Grade 1 curriculum. The lessons were designed by 8 professional teachers in Lusaka to be interactive and follow the government curriculum.

Teacher Training
To properly implement e-Learning, teachers will need to be trained in the technology and new method. Hands on training will be done using Intel and iSchool courseware.

Social Enterprise Center
Adjacent to the school, we will construct a small center from which to operate our social enterprises. These enterprises tap into the solar electric and will serve as the main source of income for sustainably operating the schools year over year.
