About Us

Impact Network believes every child deserves a quality education. We transform lives in rural Zambian communities through education and innovation, at a fraction of the cost of other alternatives. One of our key programs, the eSchool 360, is a holistic education program centered on empowering teachers with tablets, activity-based lessons, support and weekly coaching. We developed the eSchool 360 model as a way to sustain high-quality education for less than $5 a month per student. We serve over 6,000 students across 40+ schools, covering early childhood through seventh grade.

Our work also extends beyond the lines of traditional education, towards a shared mission of improving the overall lives of rural children in Zambia. We design and implement a variety of projects that aim to help all of our students, including early childhood education, financial literacy, child protection, girls and women empowerment, environmental sustainability, and life skills and sexuality.

Impact Network will provide a user-friendly online fundraising platform that you can customize, track your progress and share with your network via social media and email. We will also host a fundraising workshop for helpful tips and suggestions as you raise money for a cause!

FAQ

WHAT DOES GUARANTEED ENTRY MEAN?

“Guaranteed Entry” means that Impact Network will have a race bib for you to run the TCS New York City Marathon. In exchange for this bib, you commit to raising a minimum of $4,500 to support Impact Network.

HOW DO I BECOME A CHARITY RUNNER FOR IMPACT NETWORK?

It’s easy! We send you an application to complete and if you are one of the 5 selected runners, we will send you an “Invitation Code” to officially register for the race through NYRR. Once you register, we will then send you a link to start a Fundraising Page and you are ready to go! Please note, all applications must officially register within two (2) weeks of receiving the Invitation Code. Runners not registered after two weeks will risk losing their spot.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I OFFICIALLY REGISTER TO RUN THE RACE?

Once you officially register with NYRR, you are in. Congratulations! Impact Network will then send you a link to set up your fundraising page and you are all set to begin raising funds.

WHAT IS THE REGISTRATION FEE? IS THAT ADDED TOWARDS MY FUNDRAISING COMMITMENT/GOAL?

The registration fee is set by New York Road Runners. It is completely separate from your fundraising commitment. It cannot be added towards your goal.

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AMOUNT I NEED TO RAISE? WHAT IS MY COMMITMENT?

The minimum fundraising amount for the TCS New York City Marathon is $4,500. We encourage our charity runners to start their fundraising campaign early and consider going beyond the minimum for this historic race.

WHAT FUNDRAISING RESOURCES DOES IMPACT NETWORK PROVIDE TO HELP ME REACH MY FUNDRAISING GOAL?

We are always here to help and support your fundraising efforts. All runners for the TCS New York City Marathon receive a “Welcome Package” with information about Impact Network and our programs. We will provide you with engaging content that you may share through your fundraising platform and personal social media accounts. We encourage you to share these stories and details with your personal and professional networks and invite them to support your fundraising efforts.

I'M NEW TO FUNDRAISING. WHAT CAN I EXPECT? ANY TIPS?

Now that you have some details about Impact Network to share with friends, family and co-workers via your “Welcome Package”, let them know: WHY you are doing this? What is your personal story? Everyone has a reason for running this great race. You might be running in memory of a loved one. Perhaps, it is because supporting Impact Network is important to you. Let people know by adding your story to your email and/or your fundraising page.

Also, be sure to sign up for our quarterly newsletter through our website at www.impactnetwork.org , and “like” us on our social media channels - Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. This is a great way to stay connected and share our content on your social media channels as well.

WHAT IF SOMEONE WANTS TO DONATE VIA CHECK RATHER THAN CREDIT CARD ON MY FUNDRAISING PAGE?

The donor can make out a check to “Impact Network International, Inc.” and in the memo section of the check, they should mention your name and fundraising campaign. We will then manually add that donation amount to your personal fundraising page. They can either mail it directly to Impact Network or you can mail it to us on their behalf at:

Impact Network International, Inc.

61 Greenpoint Ave, Suite 626

Brooklyn, NY 10022

Attn: Katie Kerr

WHAT IF SOMEONE GIVES ME CASH FOR MY FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN? WHAT DO I DO?

If a donor gives you cash, you can either write a check to Impact Network for that amount and mail the check to Impact Network (details above). Or, you can use your own credit card to donate that amount to your page.

CAN I RAISE FUNDS VIA FACEBOOK INSTEAD?

Impact Network does have a fundraising connection with Facebook, and so the answer is “yes” — you can raise funds for Impact Network via Facebook and the donations go directly into the Impact Network account. However, you need to let your Impact Network Charity Manager, Katie Kerr, know about this in order to credit your fundraising page with the donation raised. Please remember, Facebook fundraising needs to be managed properly as you should not expect Facebook to do all the work. Funds raised via Facebook will be added to your campaign page via “offline donations.” (Your charity manager at Impact Network will do this for you).

WHAT IF I WANT TO ARRANGE A FUNDRAISING PARTY? HOW DO I DO THAT AND WHAT HAPPENS WITH MY FUNDS?

This is a great idea and a fun way to get your family, friends and coworkers excited about your campaign. Some people like to arrange an event at a local pub where the cover charge includes one or two drinks. Funds raised go towards your campaign page. Your local bar can help work out the details. Your Impact Network Charity Manager, Katie Kerr, will also have a few ideas to share with you. Funds raised are often in cash, so again, those donations can be added to your campaign page as offline donations via personal check sent to Impact Network, or via your credit card.

WHAT ABOUT CORPORATE MATCHING GIFTS? ARE THEY COUNTED TOWARDS MY GOAL?

We love corporate matching programs and really appreciate this! Corporate matching varies from company to company. It’s best that you ask your company if they match fundraising for charities and how to proceed; most match 1-for-1. It is good to start the matching request early in your campaign as some corporations take months to process this. We want to make sure you reach your goal by the deadline. Your Charity Manager, Katie Kerr, will work with you to add the matching gifts to your fundraising page.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T REACH MY FUNDRAISING GOAL BY THE DEADLINE?

New York Road Runners states that charity runners must reach their goal by the deadline set by the charity (Impact Network) before they are permitted to run. If you don’t complete your fundraising commitment by the deadline, your credit card will be charged the balance. Impact Network has the right to pull your bib from the race if the commitment is not completed by the deadline. There will be interim deadlines during your fundraising campaign to help you reach certain milestones and your Charity Manager, Katie Kerr, will discuss this with you.

The final deadline to reach your fundraising commitment for the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon is November 1st, 2024.

CAN I CONTINUE TO RAISE FUNDS AFTER THE DEADLINE?

Absolutely. Your personal fundraising page will remain open a few weeks after the event and we will gladly accept donations by check or via our website.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY I RAISE GO?

All funds raised go towards Impact Network and its programs.

You can learn more about our work here or on our website.

THIS IS MY FIRST MARATHON. WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

First, congratulations! We love to hear from “newbies" as we know how exciting and special this is. Be sure to enjoy it! For the TCS New York City Marathon– training is vital to prepare yourself for the duration of the 26.2 miles. There will be opportunities to run with Impact Network at one of our runs during the months leading up to the big day. By race day, you will have trained hard and will be on your way to completing the 26.2 miles.

WILL IMPACT NETWORK PROVIDE ANY TYPE OF TRAINING/COACHING?

We will help set you up with a free marathon training app that will provide a schedule based on your running level, goals, availability and the race day.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED TO CANCEL AFTER SIGNING UP?

Once you officially register to run the race, you are committed to raising $4,500 in support of Impact Network. All charity runners are required to complete their commitment to their charity as per NYRR.

DOES IMPACT NETWORK SUPPLY TRANSPORTATION TO THE START OF THE RACE?

No.  Runners are responsible for getting to the race on their own.
